Thursday Night NFL Cowboys at Lions. Handicapping information copied & pasted with DVAXN Group 25 NFL Football Outsiders

Dallas improved to 6-5-1 following their 31-28 home victory against Kansas City. The Cowboys had a huge passing performance and rushed for 137 yards for 5.3 yards a carry. On defense they allowed 5.2 yards per run with 243 yards passing for 7.1 yards per pass attempt. Dak Prescott completed 27 of 39 for 320 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Detroit fell to 7-5 after their 31-24 home defeat to Green Bay. The Lions were efficient through the air and rushed for 119 yards for 3.9 yards a carry. On defense they allowed 4.2 yards per run with 234 yards passing for 7.8 yards per pass attempt. Jared Goff hit 20 of 26 for 256 yards with two touchdowns. The Cowboys need their offense to be turnover-free, especially in the red zone, and their defense to continue its improved performance to slow down the Lions' rushing attack

Dallas left tackle is questionable. On defense a free safety is questionable. Detroit receiver Raymond is doubtful. Receiver St Brown, tight end Wright, left tackle, left guard, center and right tackle are questionable. On defense a strong safety is out with free safety questionable. Dallas has a significant injury advantage based on Dr. Chao ratings. The Lions offense has the lowest health ratings at 74.5. The Cowboys have won and covered three straights. Their passing game has been outstanding over this period.
  • Detroit’s offense with Dan Campbell calling plays over the last three games: No. 18 in EPA per play and overall success rate, No. 21 in passing success rate, and No. 15 in EPA per rush attempt.
  • Dallas has won and covered in three straight contests heading into this matchup.
  • The Lions have failed to cover three consecutive home games, including two outright losses as favorites.
  • Four of Detroit’s last five games have gone over, but much of that scoring has been driven by volatility rather than sustained offensive dominance.
  • Public betting has leaned consistently toward Dallas on the spread and toward the over on the total, even as injury news has largely favored the defenses.
The Lions failed to cover four of five. The Lions in the past month has struggled to defend the pass by allowing 8.1 yards per pass attempt. Detroit is 2-8 to the spread in back-to-back home games. Too many injuries to the Lions here against a Cowboys team in good form.

The best move 2 team 7-point teaser Cowboys +10 & under 61/1/2.
